Stefan Borg
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Stefan Borg of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., died on May 3, 2005, after a brief bout of melanoma. Son of Marianne Borg Hansen and the late Ambassador Richard Wagner Hansen, Stefan Borg was born March 31, 1954, in Brussels, Belgium, and was a citizen of Denmark. He was a graduate of Soro Academy and the University of Copenhangen in Denmark and INSEAD in Fontainbleau, France. He led the creation of a number of biotechnology drug development companies and venture capital groups and was currently serving as CEO of Osprey Pharmaceuticals. He also served on the Board of Bio-Florida and very active in many community activities.
An excellent marksman, Stefan Borg competed and won world-class competitions throughout Europe. He was also a competitive master in Tai Chi.
Stefan Borg is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susannah Schmoe Borg; and his daughter, Sophia Ashley. He is also survived by his mother, Marianne Borg Hansen; and brother, Michael Borg Hansen, wife Marianne and daughters, Amalie and Mia of Copenhagen, Denmark; and the families of his sister-in-laws, Suwannee and Lou Shuntich; daughter, Savanna of Jacksonville, Jeannie and Gary Wisenbaker, and children, Christian, Anna, and Frederick of Savannah; his mother-in-law, Nancy Schmoe; and his aunts, Snead Davis of Jacksonville and Birthe Ollerup of Denmark and uncle, Eskil Borg of France.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Christ Church in Ponte Vedra. Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Blackwater Plantation, Quitman, Ga. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.

Wilma Jones
ALAPAHA — Wilma Jones, 85, of Alapaha died Monday, May 2, 2005, at her residence.
She was born on Jan. 26, 1920, in Berrien County to the late James W. and Irene Gray Flanders. She was a homemaker, retired postmaster, and member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Felton Jones who died Nov. 15, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Flanders.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Shearer of Tucker, Sharon Anderson, Cumming; three sisters, Ella Mae Nugent, Alapaha, Elizabeth Akins, Brunswick, Dalpha Giddens, West Berrien; three brothers, Lewis Flanders, Nashville, Jordan Flanders and Charlie Flanders, both of Alapaha; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Burial will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. James Daniel Pearson
QUITMAN — The Rev. James Daniel Pearson, 78, of Quitman was born May 15, 1926, in Berrien County, the son of James Calvin and Beckie Jane Pearson. The Rev. Pearson pastored for a total of 50 years. He began his ministerial work in North, Fla., in the early 50s. He later moved to Georgia where he began his pastoral work at the Mayday Church of God in Echols County. He pastored there for nine years until 1964. He then moved to the Quitman Church of God and pastored for 10 years until 1974. He then moved to the Swilley Hill Church of God, below Valdosta, for 10 years before moving back to the Quitman Church of God, where he was still serving as pastor until God called him home.
Survivors include his wife, Avis Sapp Cercy Pearson ofQuitman; four sons and daughters-in-law,Dwain and Alice Pearson, Zebulon, Ga., Wendell Harold and Joan Pearson, Cuthbert, Ga., Danny and Cathy Pearson, Cuthbert, James Steven and Faye Pearson, Lake Park; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Michael Youmans, Quitman; Grace and Eddie Burks, Morriston, Fla.; brother, Julian Pearson, Woodville, Fla.; four stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, James and Brenda Cercy, Green Cove, Springs, Fla., Alvin and Jane Cercy, Jacksonville, Fla., Douglas and Christy Cercy, Folkston, Steven and Toni Cercy, Quitman; two stepdaughters and stepson-in-law, Lucille and Frank Kirkland, Marshall, N.C., Donna and Leonard Yeomans, Lake Park; 38 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005, in the Quitman Church of God with burial following in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Pearson will lie in state two hours prior to services. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. this evening, May 4, 2005, at the funeral home. Jimmy Jo Poole
VALDOSTA — Jimmy Jo Poole, 28, of Valdosta passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2005. He was born on June 30, 1976, in Fulton County, Ga. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Poole. He was a restaurant manager for Applebee’s in Valdosta. Mr. Poole was a former director of Youth Ministries at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Douglasville, Ga., and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Valdosta. He was a member of TAU KAPPA EPSILON Fraternity at Valdosta State University.
He is survived by his wife, Jaclyn Poole of Valdosta; father, Jimmy S. Poole of Winston, Ga.; sister, Irish Poole, Winston; paternal grandmother, Jewel Poole, Cumming, Ga.; mother-in-law/father-in-law, Robert and Nancy Gaffney, Jonesboro; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and godson Orion.
A rosary service will be held at 5 p.m., today, May 4, 2005, at the funeral home and visitation will follow until 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005, at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Richard Tibbetts officiating.
